The Claw

When an autistic boy topples a power balance that has stood for centuries, a deadly cat-and-mouse game begins...
For centuries the Magyckers of the island of Aimerey have had a monopoly on magic in the world. Those who can afford it can order any spell they want. But these spells only work for a limited time, and before a Magycker can repeat a spell, his memory is wiped. Only the most fortunate can enjoy the many gifts of the Magyckers.
Thus, when a delegation from Aimerey visits the small town of Marit and her autistic little brother Auric, they can hardly believe it. The boulders blocking the only road into the village have hit the town hard financially, but no one expected the council would actually pay the Magyckers to get rid of them.
Moments after clearing the road, however, someone repeats the spell used by the Magycker, and all hell breaks loose. Free use of a spell threatens the entire existence of Aimerey, and that is something the Magyckers are willing to prevent at any cost.
There’s just one problem. It’s the young Auric who has learned to repeat the spell… and now he and his sister must flee their home.
